Here is the definition of French Level B2 the European Framework of Reference (CECR):
Students can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
Students can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
Students can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Students who have reached the level of B2 may find it easy to live in the daily circumstances, but they may still find it difficult to understand lectures delivered by professors at school. For those who want to get admitted to renowned French universities or business schools, at least they have to pass C1 in order to study well there.
